Sir Trevor McDonald OBE will be seen in a TV ad introducing Vision Express’ latest television advertisement in its Vision Taken Seriously series. On the 7th June 2015 we’ll all be able to see archived footage, which is voiced over by Sir Trevor McDonald OBE who is one of Britain’s best loved broadcasters, and which will set the scene for the 60-second retrospective.
As well as world events the ad incorporates footage of Sir Trevor during his 40-year career. Vision Express said this is the first time the newscaster has appeared in a TV advertising campaign which uses archive footage to get its message across.
By juxtaposing studio reports and live feeds, viewers are taken back to events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall, Ronald Regan’s appointment as US President and heart-rending scenes of conflict. The ad closes with the line: ‘look after your eyes and they could last a lifetime’, the advert is the latest release from Vision Express as part of its Vision Taken Seriously campaign.
In the advert Sir Trevor says: ‘We are defined by what we see. I’ve witnessed moments that are beyond any descriptive power’. On viewing the ad consumers will be urged to have an eye examination to protect their vision. Andy Portsmouth, marketing director at Vision Express said: ‘Over half of your memories are visual. By looking after your eyes your vision can last a lifetime, which is why we think it is important you have an eye test at least every two years. An eye test not only provides an accurate assessment of your ability to see, but can result in early identification of broader health issues such as diabetes or high blood pressure’.
