The Specsavers team in Torquay managed to raise almost £2,000 for Cancer Research UK in one week.
They done a number of different activities over the 7 days starting with running into the sea on the 17th January. All of the staff ran into the cold Torbay sea in fancy dress on the Sunday.
Aswell as running into the sea they also had a raffle, face painting, bake sales, cycling on exercise bikes in Specsavers and lastly they had one of the staff members, Andy get his legs waxed.
The fundraising had taken place in memory of the Specsavers store director, Joy Filon who sadly passed away in December 2014.
The Director of the Specsavers store in Torquay, Simon Simmonds said, “We’re delighted to have raised £1,500 for Cancer Research, smashing through our target, as well as losing one of our colleagues, Joy Filon last year, I also lost my wife to cancer, which is why this is a charity close to all of our hearts.
Mr Simmonds added, “The staff made a huge effort, braving ice cold water and hot wax all in the name of charity, we’d like to thank everyone for joining us in supporting Cancer Research UK.”
